This ultra-thin 0.5mm deep U gouge from Michihamono features a blade forged from high-speed steel, an outstanding steel alloy developed for cutting applications, a perfect tool for wood carving projects. This tool's sharp blade is embedded in a long, ergonomically designed handle made of Japanese cherry blossom wood that provides comfort and a better grip while in use.

Very fine details can be achieved with its sharp, extremely fine cutting edge that can carve uniformly narrow grooves. Great for carving hair and other similar details on your wood.

Kindly note the blade may be inserted into the wood slightly off-centre, this is a normal imperfection in the manufacturing process and should not affect the performance of this tool.

  • Never use the blade of this tool as a lever to remove wood,
  • Cutting strokes should be only vertical (i.e., up or down), with minimal pressure applied,
  • Horizontal shearing force, in any axis, should never be applied.
