Michihamono Small 4.5mm Wood Carving Hand Tool Straight Shallow Woodcarving U Gouge, with Wooden Handle, to Carve Details in Woodworking
With its slightly curved cutting edge, this tool is suitable for producing flat surfaces without damaging the wood fibers and shaping small areas of wood sculptures.
This smaller size, high quality wood carving straight chisel with a very shallow sweep is crafted from high-quality Blue Paper Steel (Aogami) No.2, a steel that has chromium and tungsten added to it to give it abrasion resistant and frictionless smoothness. This steel is used in forging high-end Japanese cutting tools, making it ideal for wood carving. It is connected in a long, wooden handle made out of Japanese cypress that is light and ergonomic, allowing you to carve comfortably and provides better control.
This tool has a 4.5mm wide cutting edge that can be used for finishing flat surfaces of your small-sized wood projects. It produces very shallow cuts, great for adding fine details and smoothing out backgrounds of wood such as in relief carving, where undercuts are made.
