Michihamono Japanese Wood Carving Tool 7.5mm Medium Straight U Gouge, with Wooden Handle, to Carve Channels & Grooves in Woodworking
This woodworking tool removes excess wood quickly, especially from a flat surface, where the corners of a flat chisel will dig in and damage the wood.
This wood carving gouge with a medium sweep is made by Michihamono from Japan. The blade of this tool is forged from Blue Paper Steel (Aogami) No.2, a material specifically developed for quality cutting tools. With a high tungsten and chromium content, this tool does not easily chip off and wear out even when using repeatedly. The tang of this tool is inserted in a handle that is made from Japanese cypress wood. This tool is guaranteed to be sharp and easy to sharpen when the cutting edge gets dull.
This tool can be used in producing concave surfaces without tearing the wood fibers with its curved cutting edge. It can also be used in roughing out and shaping wood carving by removing excess wood. It has a cutting depth between a shallow gouge and a deep gouge, making it a perfect balance between the two.
