This quality Japanese medium sized short bent gouge made by Michihamono allows you to cut surfaces while leaving smooth and clean hollows on your wood. Made from White Paper Steel (Shirogami No. 2), which has minimal impurities and a very fine grain structure, making it a great material for wood carving tools. This Tsuki Nomi is easy to re-sharpen and has very good edge retention. Embedded in a smooth handle made from Japanese cherry blossom wood and a ferrule to prevent the handle from splitting.

A great tool that fills the role between the smaller wood carving hand tools and full sized socket wood carving tool. This tool can be used in shaping inner curves and hollows in your wood where straight gouges cannot reach. With its shallow, high angled bevel, it can do perfectly what neither the full sizes socket tools, or the small hand carving tools can do. Tsuki Nomi is mainly used for Buddhist sculptures and Noh masks in Japan and it can also be used for similar things such as bowls and relief carvings.
