This woodcarving tool from Michihamono has a strong blade and a sharp cutting edge, making it ideal for roughing out wood to semi-finished carving. The wooden handle has a consistent thickness regardless of the width of the blade and is available in several blade sizes for varied wood carving uses (each sold separately). The blade has been forged from white steel No.2 with few impurities and a very fine grain structure, giving it excellent edge retention and is simple to re-sharpen. The strong cherry blossom wood handle is easy to grip, and a brass ferrule is added to secure the blade from the handle.

This Michihamono's tsuki nomi tool features a very shallow gouge that is great for three-dimensional modelling. This tool's 18mm wide cutting edge makes it excellent for removing big chunks of wood. The shallow gouge smooths wood surfaces without damaging the grain or going too deep into the wood. It features a shallow angled bevel for sharp cuts and is more durable than finer wood carving tools. The blade and handle size of this Tsuki Nomi lie in between small Japanese hand carving tools and full-sized socket wood carving tools, giving it the best of both worlds for intermediate wood carving tasks.
