This pricking iron is a fantastic leathercraft tool from Oka of Japan that is constructed of high-quality tempered steel with a rust-resistance coating, making it an excellent addition to your leather tool collection. The non-slip handle fits comfortably in your hand, allowing you to grip it securely and firmly during use. This tool's prongs are sharpened individually to ensure it will leave clean, diamond-shaped holes every time.

This four-pronged leather stitch punch can be used to punch multiple holes at once on a straight line such as on the edges of the leather. The size is engraved at the end of the handle, making it  easy for you to choose the right tool for your work.

Size (space between tips of prongs):

  • 5mm

Available prong numbers (each sold separately):

  • 1-prongs
  • 2-prongs
  • 3-prongs
  • 4-prongs
  • 6-prongs
  • 7-prongs

When overused, the prongs of this tool will break off rather than bend because they are tempered, making them robust yet brittle. This is due to the design, which prevents it from causing uneven thread holes in your leatherwork. The tempered prongs do two things: First, the prongs snap instead of bending, protecting your leatherwork from uneven stitching that may occur with an undetected bent prong, which is a possibility with lesser quality tools. Second, it offers long-lasting tips that require less sharpening and have more penetration. These characteristics provide the user peace of mind, knowing that their leathercrafts, which they have spent so much time developing, will not be harmed.

To avoid breaking the prongs, always use a soft-headed hammer, never pull it side to side while trying to extract it from your leather; instead, pull it with the tool perpendicular to the leather. Never use this tool on leather so thick that difficult to remove, and please opt for a large size in such a case. Finally, avoid dropping or hitting it against a hard surface.

Keep out of the reach of children.
