This sharp wood carving tool is produced by master artisans at Michihamono, a company based in Japan known for manufacturing cutting tools. This tool has a handle made from quality Japanese cherry blossom wood that has a smooth finish and feels comfortable to wield and a metal ferrule to strengthen the end of the handle. The blade of this tool is forged from White Paper Steel (Shirogami No. 2) with a hardness scale of 60-61, which features great sharpness and edge retention, making it great material for a wood carving tool.

This tool is useful for removing large chunks of wood with its 18mm wide cutting edge. The shallow gouge helps in smoothing wood surfaces without damaging the grain and digging deep into the wood. It has a shallow angled bevel for producing sharp cuts and is more durable than finer wood carving tools.

This Tsuki Nomi has a blade and handle size that fits between the small Japanese hand carving tools and full sized socket wood carving tools, ensuring this tool has the best qualities of both tools when tackling intermediate wood carving tasks.
