The highly tempered prongs of this superb tool have a twofold purpose: They protect your leatherwork from uneven stitching by breaking, rather than bending, when damaged, this protects you from the possibility of uneven stitching which occurs with the bent prongs often found on cheaper tools, preventing a damaged tool from permanently ruining your leatherwork. The tempered prongs also deliver longer-lasting tips that require less sharpening and have greater penetrative power. When punching or removing this tool, make sure it's perpendicular to your leather and don't use a strong hammer; instead, use a soft-headed hammer to avoid breaking the tool. Use leather that isn't too thick that makes the tool tough to remove. If you're working with leather that's thick enough to make removal difficult,a bigger pricking iron size will be required.
