Create amazing silver creations, mend cracks, or bond Art Clay pieces with this 20g tub of Art Clay Silver Paste.

This paste-type silver clay is ideal for repairing broken silver clay, filling small holes, reinforcing joins, or adding fine decorative details to unfired Art Clay Silver pieces.

Art Clay Silver is a low-fire silver clay that can be fired at 660 °C (1200 °F). In addition to kiln firing, this paste type can also be fired using a butane blow torch, making it suitable for small repairs, thin applications, and compact pieces when kiln access is not available. It is commonly used to coat or paint organic materials such as twigs, leaves, or paper forms. During firing, the organic material burns away, leaving fine surface detail captured in silver. It is also used to bond unfired Art Clay Silver components or mend cracks before firing. After firing at the appropriate temperature, the material sinters into 99.9% fine silver.

This type of silver clay can be modelled in the same way as regular water-based clay. Once opened, it is susceptible to air exposure and must be kept moist to retain pliability and workability. A container of water and a paintbrush can be used to re-moisten areas of the clay surface that begin to dry or crack during use.

Firing is the process that transforms Art Clay into pure silver. Whether fired in a kiln or with a blow torch, the process involves burning off organic binders and sintering the silver particles to achieve strength and durability. The finished piece will be approximately 8% to 9% smaller, retaining the original shape and fine detail of the pre-fired work, and resulting in solid 99.9% fine silver.
