This Michihamono U Gouge comes with a diminutive 1.5mm blade that's excellent for tackling highly intricate wood carvings. Crafted from High Speed Steel, this blade has been expertly shaped, and tempered, by skilled artisans, ensuring you can achieve great results when making gouges into your wood. Made in Japan.

This tools is excellent for carving detailed cuts in your wood work, such as the eyes or mouths in figurines, putting the finishing touches on rough edges, or smoothing out the peaks where wood cuts meet.

To use simply hold as you would a pencil with the blade facing away from you, and, with the motion of your fingers that are gripping the tool, make delicate cuts in your wood as desired, ensuring not to overstress the blade.

Keep in mind that this quality wood carving tool features an extremely fine, detailed blade that should only be handled with great caution. Please follow the guidelines below to avoid breaking or bending the blade.

  • This tool should not be struck with any object, such as a mallet when cutting wood,
  • Do not attempt to remove large amounts of wood per stroke. Trim or shave only a small amount of wood from your project at a time using multiple small strokes,
  • Do not use this tool to penetrate the wood any more than the thickness of the blade,
  • Never use the blade of this tool as a lever to remove wood,
  • Cutting strokes should be only vertical (i.e., up or down), with minimal pressure applied,
  • Horizontal shearing force, in any axis, should never be applied.

Store in a dry place, without the blade contacting any hard surface. Blade is sharp, keep out of the reach of children.
