This European style of pricking iron is great for punching stitching holes in your leather and has flat prongs rather than diamond ones, giving your leathercraft stitching a unique look that is excellent for thin leathers and thread up to 1mm in thickness. Fashioned from high carbon tool steel this quality stitching punch is made in Japan to the same high standards as other Seiwa pricking irons.

This European Style Pricking Iron from Seiwa is excellent for ensure the highest quality in stitching.

This pricking iron will make holes 5mm (or 6 holes per inch) apart when measured from the edge of one hole to the same edge of the next hole, number IV on the picture. Each flat hole measures 2mm in length.

Available in sizes where the holes are 4mm, 4.5mm and 5mm apart and come in 1 prong, 2 prong, 4 prong or 6 prong types, each making 2mm long flat holes. Collect them all for the ultimate in stitching versatility in almost any thickness of leather!

Simply place over the leather you wish to sew and hammer, punching holes all the way through your leather. No need for an awl, just punch and sew.

Please note the prongs are designed to snap, rather than bend, to give ultimate hardness and prevent undetected bent prongs from ruining your leatherwork. Therefore, always use a soft headed hammer or mallet (never metal) and tap it into your leather work gently. When removing the prongs from your leather always pull it out of your leatherwork straight, never shift it side to side to loosen it or this could snap the prongs. It is recommended to lubricate your prongs with wax from time to time to allow for easier removal.
