This great wood carving tool from Michihamono of Japan is made from high-speed steel, a tool steel with high hardness and wear resistance. The handle is made from Japanese cherry blossom wood that gives a warm feel in your hand and provides great control when using. Sharpened by professional blade craftsmen at Michihamono, ensuring this tool is ready to use right out of the package. A ferrule is inserted at the end of the handle to prevent the handle from cracking.

This woodworking gouge has a very shallow sweep and is used for smoothing unevenness in your wood, specifically in flat surfaces such as in relief carving. Filling the middle role between socket wood carving tools that remove large chunks of wood, and fine woodworking tools for detailed carvings, this Tsuki Nomi has a stronger shank and is more durable than small wood carving tools, but less bulky and cuts sharper than full-sized socket hand tools.
