With this excellent diamond point pricking iron from Oka of Japan, you can punch evenly spaced stitch holes in your leather. This tool has been tempered for added toughness, and each prong has been carefully sharpened, providing you with a long-lasting tool and professional-looking stitch holes every time. This hand sewing tool creates diamond-shaped holes that are perfect for leather stitching. The non-slip handle of this tool keeps it from slipping and allows you to grip it easily while working on your leather project.

This two-prong leather stitch punch is ideal for producing stitch holes around curves and small spaces. The size is etched on the end of the handle so you can quickly figure out what size you need for your leatherwork. Place the end prong of the pricking iron on the last hole after finishing the first set of stitch holes to make the next set of holes evenly spaced.

Size (space between tips of prongs):

  • 5.5mm

Available prong numbers (each sold separately):

  • 2-prongs
  • 4-prongs
  • 5-prongs

When over stressed, the prongs of this tool will break off rather than bend because they are heavily tempered, making them hard yet somewhat brittle. This is due to its design, which prevents the stitch holes in your leatherwork from being uneven. Tempered prongs provide two advantages: To begin with, they snap off rather of bending, protecting your leatherwork from uneven stitching, which is not the case with cheaper pricking irons, which bend and damage your leatherwork with uneven stitch holes. Second, it provides long-lasting tips that require less honing and have more penetrating force. These characteristics provide the user peace of mind, knowing that the leathercraft they have worked so hard to make will not be damaged.

Make sure you use a soft-headed hammer if you use this pricking iron. When attempting to remove it from your leather, never rock it side to side; instead, pull it perpendicular to the leather to avoid breaking the prongs. Keep this tool at a safe distance from other tools and materials.  Finally, avoid dropping it or striking it against a hard surface.

Keep out of the reach of children.
