This outstanding wood carving chisel with a very shallow curved edge is made by Michihamono of Japan. The blade of the tool is made from hardened Blue Paper Steel (Aogami) No.2 which is then sharpened and inserted into a Japanese cypress wood handle that feels smooth and comfortable to hold, allowing you to carve in an extended period without getting tired easily.

It produces a shallow, polished surface when carved into the wood, perfect for finishing wood where a flat and smooth surface is needed. Aside from the normal usage of this tool, it can also be used upside down, where the bevel is facing up, producing very shallow convex cuts, perfect for rounding edges of larger wood carving projects.
