A multi purpose Japanese traditional short handle, double faced hammer with a flat end on one side and slightly curved on the other, is a perfect tool for both beginners and professionals for their woodworking projects.

This hammer is called 'genno' in Japanese, meaning flat ended hammer, is a traditional Japanese hammer, with one end for striking nails, hitting chisel handles used in woodcarving, and also used in adjusting the blade of a plane. While the other end is used in fully inserting the nail onto the wood without causing any damage to the surface because of its slightly rounded face.

To use this short handed double-faced hammer for striking nails, use the flat side of the hammer first. Then hold the handle firmly using your dominant hand, and the other hand holding the nail just below its head. Strike the nail in a gradually increasing force until the nail head is touching the surface of the wood. Use the slightly convex end of the hammer to fully insert the nail onto the wood ensuring you won't damage the surrounding wood surface.

Another use for this hammer is for striking your chisel for carving wood. To use this tool as a chisel hammer, grip the handle of the hammer firmly with one hand and the handle of the chisel with the other. Use the flat side of the hammer when striking the chisel ring or manufacturer recommended striking surface. Place the blade edge of the chisel to the surface of the wood you want to carve. Then strike the chisel with controlled force, not too soft and not too hard, to carve the wood as desired, without damaging the tools and the wood you're carving.

Please note: Wear gloves and safety glasses when using this hammer. Keep out of the reach of children.
