This Shigetomo 52mm dual blade adjustble Rabbet (or Rebate, or Fillister) Plane is a traditional Japanese Kiwaki Kanna designed specifically for refining 90-degree inner corners and edges. Its durable SK-5 carbon tool steel blade and finely crafted natural oak body provide excellent tactile control, with an adjustable stopper, making it a dependable choice for clean, accurate finishing work in joinery and cabinetry.

This plane is most effective for shaving down areas where two wooden faces meet at a right angle, such as box corners, inside panels, and dovetail joints. It also performs well on side surfaces and raised edges where conventional planes are too wide or imprecise. Woodworkers restoring antique furniture or crafting precise wooden fittings will find this tool especially valuable.

Product Data:
• Blade Width: 52mm (dual blade)
• Blade Material: Carbon tool steel (SK-5)
• Handle Material: Natural oak
• Weight: 290g

To use the plane, set the blade using light taps with a small hammer or wooden mallet on the back of the blade to extend, or on the back of the body to retract. To position the stopper, loosen the wing nuts and move to the appropriate position, before tightening the wingnuts, after adjusting the blade for a fine shaving depth. Hold the tool flat against the surface and pull towards you, with smooth, controlled strokes along the inner corner or edge, using steady passes to maintain even depth and accuracy.

Always dry the blade after use and apply a thin coat of oil to prevent corrosion. Store the tool in a dry location, not in contact with hard surfaces. Keep out of reach of children. This tool is intended for woodworking use only.
