Use this Japanese-style skiving knife from Oka to precisely skive and cut your leather. This tool is forged from Tamahagane steel, a rare type of steel used in making Japanese swords and knives. This material has a high carbon content which allows for a stronger blade, making it suitable for leather skiving and cutting. The blade of this skiving knife is honed by expert craftsmen from Oka and is attached to an ergonomic, wooden handle to make sure you have a tool that is sharp and feels comfortable in your hand.

To use as a skiver, the edge you want to skive should be placed on a firm surface and facing away from you. Hold the knife with the bevel facing up and the blade's edge facing the same direction as the leather's edge, or at an angle if you want. Then, cut the leather crosswise or outwards from where you want to skive.

To cut leather, set it on a cutting mat, insert one corner of the blade into the leather, and pull the knife towards you, twisting the blade in the direction you want to cut. Pitch the handle of the knife away from you while cutting around corners for better control, and pitch the handle of the blade towards you when cutting straight lines.
