Skive and cut leather with this quality Japanese-style skiving knife from Oka. This skiving knife's blade is forged from Tamahagane steel, a type of steel made in Japanese tradition. This steel is strong and has a high carbon content, excellent for making swords, knives, and other tools including this skiving knife. The blade is symmetrical with a 90-degree angle on each corner, making it suitable for both left and right-handed users.

When used to cut leather, place the corner of the blade into the surface you wish to cut and pull the knife towards you. While cutting around curves, pitch the knife handle away from you for better control, and when cutting straight lines, pitch the blade handle towards you for straighter lines and more effective leather cutting.

When used to skive leather, place your leather flesh side up with the edge you want to skive facing away from you. Cut your leather outwards or across from where you want the skive to begin up to the edge of the leather, holding the knife with the bevel at the bottom side and the edge of the blade facing in the same way as the edge of the leather, or at a slight angle as chosen.
