This fantastic wood carving skew chisel by Michihamono of Japan features a short-skewed chisel that is great for adding layers to wood carving pieces and clearing out the background of a relief carving. The tempered steel blade is small but sharp and can finish deep corners of your woodwork, where large gouges and chisels cannot reach. This outstanding blade's angle makes it an excellent choice for carving into crevices or other hard-to-reach places. The blade is forged from high-quality Aogami No. 2 cutlery steel, which is a useful and reasonably-priced steel that is easy to maintain. The blade of this tool is embedded into the handle, so that as the blade grows shorter from repeated sharpening, the handle can be carved down to re-lengthen the blade, allowing you to use it for many years to come. The handle of this cutlery knife is made from Japanese cypress wood, giving its user an easy and comfortable grip.

This Michihamono 3.0mm Short Skew Japanese Cutlery Steel Knife, is one of the more frequently used types of carving knife. Since it features a short-skewed blade, this tool with a narrow deep chisel, can enter very complex parts of your wood carvings without the handle or the shank bumping onto the protrusions coming from the wood surface. This tool is convenient for carving flanks of wooden statues, wave patterns, and intricate details on all woodwork. The overall blade can be used to make angled cuts, while the sharp edge can be used for detailing your woodwork.

Before using this tool, keep in mind that this quality wood carving tool features an extremely fine, detailed blade that should only be handled with great caution. When cutting wood, this tool should not be struck with any object, such as a mallet. Do not attempt to remove large amounts of wood per stroke. Trim or shave only a small amount of wood from your project at a time using multiple small strokes. Do not use this tool to penetrate the wood any more than the thickness of the blade. Never use the blade of this tool as a lever to remove wood. Cutting strokes should be only vertical (i.e., up or down), with minimal pressure applied. Horizontal shearing force, in any axis, should never be applied.

Precautions: The blade edge is sharp, keep out of reach of children. Store the blade without coming into contact with hard surfaces to avoid dulling the cutting edge.
